Unfolding the Magic

Yellow Tree Reading Academy is an online training school dedicated to equipping educators, therapists, and homeschooling parents with research-based strategies, interactive resources, and structured methodologies to effectively teach and support children with reading difficulties.

Our Story

Yellow Tree Learning was born beneath the golden pecan trees that light up our garden each autumn — a living reminder that growth and change can be breathtaking. Their leaves turn the ground to gold, and from that glow came our name and our purpose: to help teachers light the path for every child learning to read.

Founded in 2022, Yellow Tree Learning Centre is a professional teacher training hub grounded in the Science of Reading. We guide educators in understanding how the brain learns language — and how to nurture readers who think, wonder, and thrive.

Our courses weave research-based reading instruction with creativity and care, exploring every branch of literacy: phonemic awareness, decoding, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency. Each programme is designed to meet individual learners where they are, ensuring that progress feels both measurable and magical.

When teachers are equipped with knowledge and joy, children grow roots of confidence and branches of possibility. That’s the Yellow Tree promise — where science meets story, and every reader can bloom.

Meet Annemarie

Educational Psychologist & Founder

My name is Annemarie Roux, previously Head of Learning Support and an Educational Psychologist at Metro North Education District in the Western Cape Education Department in Cape Town, South Africa.

After many years in Special Education, initially as a regular classroom teacher in both high and primary schools and later as a Learning Support Educator, an educational Psychologist and as a lecturer in Special Needs Education at university level, I was able to fulfil my dream of establishing my own teacher training centre, called Yellow Tree Learning. This Learning Centre offered workshops and courses designed to equip Remedial teachers how to effectively teach children with difficulties reading.

To Teach a child to read is to give them a passport to worlds unknown, a key to unlock every door of knowledge, and the ability to write their own story in life.

Absolutely love your training, Annemarie. I am so happy that I could join another wonderful course. You (and your daughter) are so inspiring. I just love your passion. Content is fantastic and thorough. It is so relevant to our teaching in the Learning Support classroom. We are desperate for content and resources, and now we have quality content to work with.
